Default LDoA / Survivor Title question

All the information I've been able to find is very outdated, I don't know if much has changed since then but I'm looking for an up to date answer to the question: What's the easiest class combination and build to use to easily level up (fastest?) and not die (for survivor) in pre-searing.

If you think they are all equal then can you please give your own opinion which is the easiest and why? Thanks

I suggest you have a look at the presearing site There is usually useful information to be had there.

You can get them on any prof so as always the one you prefer to play is the best choice. If you want to spend time farming for surivior you might want to consider which prof would be best for the quests that are most easily farmed. I suspect it is ele.

All are equal, it's a matter of warriors being melee (makes it slightly more difficult but almost negligibly), any of the caster classes can do it with little effort, primarily monk due to it being the only real heals at that stage of the game.

Personally I found mesmer/mo(ele) and necro/mo(ele) to be the easiest, through degen which is brutal on low health totals in pre.

I too recently went on the presearing site and found the information there VERY outdated, there are very new posts on the forum.

Contrary to what may have been posted there IT IS possible to get LDoA and Survivor but would be very difficult, you would have to go through all the effort of getting to level 20 but without dying.
Of course it would be possible to get after you have died but this would become increasingly difficult each time you died as your level would have increased thus meaning you received less and less xp from each foe.

How easy you find this on each different profession would be largely determined by your play style. Each profession does have strengths at different levels however, Warriors are fairly weak until you can start meeting the req of Rhino's Change for example and Casters are fairly weak at lower levels vs Charr.

My advice would be pick whichever profession you enjoy playing the most, as you will be playing them for quite some time.
Be careful, some of the vanguard quests are more difficult than others.
Get the higher armor as soon as possible and get some armor increasing insignias as soon as possible!
/R is always helpful, pets armor scales by level so they can tank really well, in conjunction with the fire imp you can have yourself a little private army capable of decimating the charr while you stand back in safety.
Most of all make sure you take advantage of the bonus items and weapons such as the fire imp.

My personal opinion is that the Ele is the best. With enough fire magic you can kill Charr groups with one fire storm. If you know where to hide you can just ball them up and nuke them down. Their only weakness is that they die too fast and dont have the best self heals.
Mesmer is also a good option but only if you take ele as a secondary. Backfire means you can roll over the bosses quite easily and ether feast means you are (fairly) safe hp wise. Due to the high attrib spread though this only becomes really really good as you approach the higher levels.

Good luck!

The fastest, easiest and most comfortable way to get surv is very simple.
Die and get LDoA. Make some progress in campaigns, get skills, equipment, heroes and access to most areas and then start with survivor.

An update changed surv title, so death force you start over instead of halting the title and forever locking it.

Trust Guru and Wiki only.
All other pages become outdated, after all, GW is here for over 6 years.

LDoA
Survivor

Which Survivor level are you talking about? If you don't die on your way to level 20, you can get the first tier in that track. If you are talking about Legendary Survivor, give up now. Even if you do the Vanguard quest every day, it will take you two years to get that particular level, and wouldn't you rather be playing GW2 by then?

I liked my ranger for the LDoA title because I get the added help of my pet companion who was my tank, and troll unguent is a decent heal.

@Sagittario
I assumed/think he meant just getting survivor in presearing rather than leaving and then getting it

Yes, but before the recent update it was impossible to get both in pre. That did not stop frequent posts about peoples bright ideas on how to do it. Perma pre's did get a little irritated by having to post the same refutation over and over again.

@ Saggittario the OP specifically asked about survivor in pre

if you get the right build, a NeMe can solo charr from about lvl 8 onwards because their draining skills combine really effectively. ElMes or ElNes also do well for the AoE and draining effects.

the short of it though is that really, if you want survivor as well as LDoA, go for a class that is either spells or ranged - it's too risky with warriors.

I got LDoA on a RaMe, but I wasn't aiming for survivor at the same time. If you really want survivor, there's an easier way to do it than soft-footing around presearing hoping nothing tags you: avoid it until you get to Gunnar's Hold in EOTN and then just do kilroy with scrolls.

All are pretty easy actually.

However, I have personal experience with the Mesmer. Who has both LDoA and Legendary Survivor, however I got LS in post-Searing by playing normally, after finishing Nightfall, EoTN and Factions I had gotten LS without any special tricks in NM.

A Ranger in Pre is great because with the /bonus bows you can do tremendous damage. An Ele/Mo is great for perma-pre for farming wealth like black dyes.

If you plan to Sear you character, any of them work fine, if you plan on perma-Pre, then you'll probably want a non-melee with either /R or /Mo for the healing and/or pet.

I started a similar post earlier http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...tml?t=10491570 and from what I heard, I figured E/Mo was the way to go from the energy storage (with Aura of Restoration) and then the healing prayers from the monk (Healing Breeze is only available to non-monk characters from level 10 onwards, but you get Orison of Healing and certain protection prayers as well).

I've tried it out, and the only problem I've had with an E/Mo survivor was lag D:

And if you have the /bonus, you can always use the fire imp. He's come in handy more than once for me!

Ahh, I thought he wants to get both LDoA and surv on one toon, but not to stay in pre perma.

Simply put, there aren't enough hours in a day to get LS in pre.
